Entra ID Business Role Groups

This guide adds you directly to the non-production Entra ID security groups (bus-role-np.{role}) that back Business Roles — see Business Roles. It applies regardless of whether the application you're testing is Corporate (Entra ID) or External (Okta): Okta-secured applications resolve authorization through an Okta group rule that mirrors these same Entra ID business roles.

For development and testing purposes, it is necessary to place yourself in the business roles specific to your use case. The [projectid]-np-roles pipeline within your test-tools repository will add/remove you from these roles.

🚀 Instructions¶

To maintain the list of roles you are currently in:

Open [Repo]/infra/np-role-assignment-corp/my-roles.yml
Make sure the Username: attribute is your mailid
Using YAML array syntax, create a list of the business roles you wish to be in for testing
Save the file
Run the [projectid]-np-roles pipeline
